Aligned to your provincial curriculum

How Lessona maps to the framework you actually plan against.

Canada has no federal curriculum; each province and territory sets its own. Lessona's Canadian lesson generator switches framework by province automatically when you set your school in your profile. The active frameworks: Ontario Curriculum (Grades 1-12, MOE), British Columbia Curriculum (the redesigned Big Ideas / Core Competencies / Content / Curricular Competencies structure, K-12), Alberta Programs of Study, Quebec QEP (Quebec Education Program, English-medium schools), Manitoba Curriculum Frameworks, Saskatchewan Curriculum, Nova Scotia Curriculum, New Brunswick Curriculum, NL Curriculum, PEI Curriculum. The territories (Yukon, NWT, Nunavut) typically adopt a neighbouring province's curriculum with local adaptations.

BC teachers note: Lessona uses BC's redesigned curriculum terminology (KDU is Knowledge, Do, Understand, distinct from the NZ UKD that was removed in 2026; we don't conflate them). Plans cite the Big Idea, the Core Competencies addressed, the Content learning standard, and the Curricular Competencies.

Coverage runs Kindergarten to Grade 12. Lesson plans cite the provincial code or expectation reference, the strand, and the I Can statement (or "Can do" in BC). Differentiation runs three ability levels (Beginning, Developing, Proficient or equivalent provincial terminology) with FSL (French as a Second Language) and ELL scaffolds available where set in class context.

Common questions

What Canadian teachers usually want to know before signing up.

Does Lessona work across all provinces and territories?

Yes. Set your province (and school where applicable) in your teacher profile and the lesson generator switches to the right provincial framework: Ontario Curriculum, BC Curriculum, Alberta Programs of Study, Quebec QEP, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, NL, PEI. The three territories typically follow a neighbouring province's curriculum with local adaptations.

Does Lessona handle BC's KDU structure correctly?

Yes. BC's Knowledge, Do, Understand (KDU) is a distinct framework from the NZ UKD that was removed in the 2026 refresh. Lessona keeps them separate and does not conflate the two. BC plans cite the Big Idea, Core Competencies, Content, and Curricular Competencies as the redesigned curriculum requires.

What about French-immersion or Quebec QEP in French?

Lessona's English-medium support is full. For French-medium schools in Quebec under the QEP-français, the current generator works in English with French terminology in citations; full French-medium lesson generation is on the 2026 roadmap. FSL teachers in English-medium schools (Ontario, Alberta, BC, etc.) have full support today.

How much does Lessona cost for Canadian teachers?

CA$17.99 per month, billed monthly in CAD via Stripe. There is a 7-day free trial that includes 3 lesson plans, 2 presentations, and 5 printable resources, with no credit card required. Cancel any time. School board subscriptions are invoiced annually with discounted per-teacher pricing.

Is Lessona aligned to TDSB, OCDSB, VSB, or specific board policies?

Lessona aligns to the provincial framework set by your Ministry (Ontario MOE, BC MOE, etc.), not to individual board policies. Boards (TDSB, OCDSB, VSB, CBE, etc.) typically build on top of the provincial framework with board-specific priorities. Add your board's priorities to your teacher profile as context and Lessona will weave them into plans where they fit naturally.

Does Lessona handle Indigenous content respectfully?

Lessona follows the provincial curriculum's guidance on Indigenous content. In Ontario, that means the explicit FNMI (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) strand in the revised curriculum. In BC, that means embedding First Peoples Principles of Learning across all subject areas as the curriculum requires. We do not generate ceremonial or sacred content; sourcing for Indigenous content is flagged in plans so teachers can verify with their local Indigenous education leads.

Has Lessona been tested with Canadian teachers?

Phase 1 testing with NZ teachers wrapped up in April 2026 and the product passed. Phase 2 is now underway with primary and secondary teachers in Canada, covering the provincial curricula (Ontario, BC, Alberta, Quebec English, and others). Findings from this round are folded into the Canadian templates before full public availability later in 2026.
