Terms of Service

Lessona is a web application operated by Lessona Limited, registered in New Zealand. We help teachers generate lesson plans, classroom presentations, and printable resources using artificial intelligence. You access Lessona through a personal account at lessona.ai.

References to "we", "us", or "our" mean Lessona Limited. References to "you" or "your" mean the person who has accepted these terms and uses the account.

You must be 18 years or older to create a Lessona account. Lessona is built for qualified teachers, teacher trainees, and education staff. You confirm that the information you provide on signup is true and that you will keep it up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Each Lessona account is for a single teacher. Do not share your login with colleagues. If your school wants every teacher covered, the Schools plan covers staff at a discounted per-teacher rate.

Tell us straight away if you suspect someone else is using your account. We may suspend access to investigate suspected unauthorised use.

New accounts include a 7-day free trial. The trial covers a limited number of generations so you can fully test Lessona before paying. No credit card is required to start a trial. At the end of the trial, generation pauses until you subscribe. Past content remains visible.

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe in your local currency where supported. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. Prices may change with at least 30 days notice by email; the new price applies at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you do not want to continue at the new rate.

Annual subscriptions, where offered, follow the same terms with the billing period extended to 12 months. Refund terms for annual subscriptions are set out in the refund policy.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from Billing in your dashboard. Cancellation stops future billing immediately. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the account drops to read-only.

Use Lessona for legitimate teaching and curriculum work. You agree not to:

• Generate content intended to harm, harass, or deceive students or anyone else.
• Use Lessona to produce material that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or sexually explicit.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract training data from Lessona or our providers.
• Run automated scripts or bots against the generation endpoints.
• Resell Lessona output as a separate product or build a competing service on top of our generations.
• Share a single account across multiple teachers.

The fair-use policy explains in plain terms what normal teaching use looks like and what triggers a conversation with us.

Anything you generate with Lessona belongs to you. Lesson plans, slide decks, printable resources, and any edits you make to them are yours to use, share with colleagues at your school, print, modify, and reuse.

You grant Lessona a non-exclusive licence to host and display your content within your account so the service can show it back to you across devices. We do not use your content to train AI models. See the AI policy for the full picture.

The Lessona name, logo, brand, source code, design system, and underlying software are owned by Lessona Limited and protected by intellectual property laws. Your subscription gives you the right to use the service, not to copy or distribute it.

Lessona uses artificial intelligence to draft material. AI can be wrong, out of date, or culturally tone deaf. The teacher remains the author of every lesson. You are expected to review, edit, and adapt anything Lessona produces before using it with students.

Lessona is not a substitute for professional judgement, qualified teaching, or curriculum advice from your school or ministry. We accept no liability for content you choose to use after reviewing it.

We collect the minimum data needed to run Lessona and we never collect or store student data. Full details, including how to request a copy or deletion of your data, are in the privacy policy.

We aim for Lessona to be available around the clock and we monitor uptime continuously. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance windows, provider outages, or unexpected incidents may cause short interruptions. We do not credit subscriptions for minor outages, but if a serious outage materially affects your ability to use Lessona, contact support and we will make it right.

We improve Lessona continuously. Features may be added, changed, or retired. Where a change reduces functionality you rely on, we will give reasonable notice by email. By continuing to use Lessona after a change you accept the updated service.

You can close your account at any time from Billing. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, abuses the service, or puts other users or our providers at risk. Where it is safe to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close your account for breach, we will refund any unused portion of your current billing period unless the breach involved fraud, abuse, or unlawful use.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lessona is provided on an "as is" basis. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost teaching time, lost data where you have not maintained your own copies, or loss of reputation.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer protection law, including the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or equivalent rights in your country.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect, with a summary of what changed. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Disputes are first to be raised with us by email so we can try to resolve them directly. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country.
